Student Testimonial: My Journey with Five-D Agency to NASA – Houston, Texas
My experience with Five-D Agency was truly remarkable, especially during the extraordinary trip they organized to NASA’s Space Center in Houston, Texas. Along with three other students, I travelled under the guidance of our chaperone, Ms. Divina, a dedicated representative of the agency. I would describe her as exceptionally professional, patient, and tremendously supportive. Despite the back-to-back flights, long queues, and the general unfamiliarity of being in a new environment, she ensured that we were always safe, organized, and at ease.
Upon arriving in Houston, we stayed at the comfortable Staybridge Suites, conveniently located near NASA’s Space Center. Beyond NASA, we also explored shopping centers and enjoyed a variety of delicious cuisines—from Mexican to Asian to classic American dishes. Throughout the trip, Ms. Divina maintained a perfect balance between supervising us and encouraging us to be independent, curious, and confident in navigating a new environment.
The highlight of the entire experience was our participation in NASA’s Space Center University program. As students, we engaged in exhilarating hands-on activities such as miniature rocket building, a heat shield design competition—where my team won—and even had the rare opportunity to tour the famous Mission Control Center (MCC). We also learned about robotics, space science, and engineering concepts directly from NASA staff, who were welcoming, knowledgeable, and inspiring. Meeting students from countries like Brazil and Scotland enriched the experience even further. One of my most memorable moments was being personally introduced to astronaut Kevin A. Ford, an encounter I will cherish forever.
Our return to Ghana was as smooth as the entire journey. Looking back, the trip was not only educational and exciting, but deeply impactful. From this adventure with Five-D Agency, I learned valuable lessons about networking, embracing new experiences, and stepping outside my comfort zone. It was truly an unforgettable expedition—one that has broadened my worldview and strengthened my passion for science and exploration.
